Turn the page…open your eyes…and look into the future

They unleash the power of dreams and unlock the secrets of the universe.

They bend time, twist perception, and put a new spin on the laws of physics.

They show us who we are, what we may become, and how far we can go.

They are the Writers of the Future. Experience their vision.

This is what is said on Amazon about the Writers of the Future Series.

“Writers of The Future” is a contest in which fantasy and science fiction writers and artists submit work to be pusblished in the series.

I was really pleasantly surprised with the quality of this publication. My favorite story was “Gonna Reach Out and Grab Ya.” Which is a short story about a mortician performing an autopsy on an unusual corpse from the future.  My favorite illustration was by Sida Chen on page 306.

I had never heard of this publication before I did this review and I am excited about it. I think it is a great opportunity for artists and writers to get published and get new exposure. There is no fee to enter this contest, which is rare for this kind of publication.

Review-Renegade

Pike Morgan doesn’t mind getting his hands dirty. His rebellious attitude and bent for vigilante justice have him on the police radar, but he’s gotten himself out of bigger trouble. Struggling to avoid any personal attachments and nervous of the roots he’s setting down against his will, Pike is eager for his next deployment with the Marine Reserve. Despite his problems with authority, Pike is a fighter, and the Marines fight hard.

On a tour of duty in Afghanistan, Pike and his squad find themselves embroiled in a heated war zone. After an American journalist is kidnapped by known terrorist Zalmai Yaqub, the whereabouts of this al Qaeda leader become a top priority for the American military. As the Marines’ rescue mission turns into a dash to avert a monumental terrorist strike, Pike finds out what’s really at stake.

Renegade by Odem is well written and an easy read. I had a hard time relating to the character, especially at first. But then you realize Pike is a daredevil and a maverick with a dash of the vigilante. He is his own person and a fighter at that. Like a Spartan or another type of warrior. This book would translate well to the big screen. It reminded me of Taken, which is one of my favorite movies. It is the sequel to the series but it definitely stands on its own. I had trouble getting into the story until about chapter 5. Then it really began to hold my interest. I gave it four stars!

Review: Ssh-oes

(The author would like to thank ssh-oes for sponsoring this post in exchange for an honest review)

In college I was in a production of Sondheim’s Gypsy, and during a crowd scene, I got yelled at by the director for walking too loudly.
Really. The director stopped the scene and yelled at me because I clicked my heels too loudly. Lucky for me, I have a thick skin. But that director could’ve saved his breath if instead of my character shoes I could have worn Ssh-oes.
You read that right Ssh-oes. What is that about? Here is what the website says:

Ssh-oes are comfortable heels specifically engineered and designed to not make noise when you walk. You know that “click-y” noise your heels make every time you take a step in heels? Well, ssh-oes don’t make that noise!
Ssh-oes is the only company in the world that makes quiet heels. The ssh-oes have a non-slip, sound absorbing rubber outsole and a patent pending noise reducing heel lift so, they do not make as much noise when you walk. Our patent pending heel lift also prevents against wear and tear and acts as a shock absorber to make the ssh-oe even more comfortable.
In addition to not making noise, they are incredibly comfortable! They are cushioned with memory foam and have a lycra and leather lining to make the shoe as blister free as possible. Ssh-oes are fit tested on real sized women so you’re getting something that you can actually wear and enjoy without all the pain usually associated with heels.

You can buy them at: http://www.ssh-oes.com/

The first pair I am reviewing is the Molly.

They This nude and clear peep toe pump and are beautiful and feel incredible. They are 3 inch heels and I never would have believed heels like this could feel this comfortable.
This is how I feel about these shoes.

Review- Fearless

“When Navy SEAL Adam Brown woke up on March 17, 2010, he didn’t know he would die that night in the Hind Kush Mountains of Afghanistan—but he was ready. In a letter to his children, not meant to be seen unless the worst happened, he wrote, “I’m not afraid of anything that might happen to me on this earth, because I know no matter what, nothing can take my spirit from me.”

When I read that and felt a chill, I knew that I what I was about to read an incredible book. I was not disappointed in Fearless by Eric Blehm This is the story of Adam Brown, a member of the US Navy’s Seal team SIX who became famous when they successfully killed Terrorist Bin Ladin. This is a biography of his early childhood, his troubled teen years in which he fell into a drug problem. His wife, his faith and the US Navy all helped pull him out of a dark place and created an amazing man and solider.

The book is full of photographs and deeply personal letters that truly help the reader put a face to those who serve our country and helps grasp the sacrifice these soldiers and their families make.

The Toby Keith lyric “My daddy served in the Army, he lost his right eye, but he flew a flag out in our yard til the day that he died, rang in my head as I read this book in one setting.

I highly recommend this amazing book!

Sometimes it is amazing to live in the year 2013. We have internet, smartphones,
As crazy as it may sound The products from Mally Cosmetic feel truly futuristic.

When I opened the Mally Poreless, I found a nice metal compact with something clear in it. I was so confused. Then I realized that the clear stuff WAS the product! I was so surprised! I was expecting a powder! The product I was looking at in confusion was Mally’s Evercolor Poreless face defender.

It is without a doubt the lightest thing next to wearing no makeup at all.
Here is the description from the Mally website:

This remarkable technology yields an utterly sheer, featherweight product that diffuses the look of pores, minimizes fine lines, and helps protect your makeup so it lasts from morning to night. Book Review -Fierce Women

untitled
(I received a copy of this text in exchange for an honest review)
When I was in college, I received a copy of a a page out of a high school home ec book which told the reader that a wife is basically a slave to her husband. This fifties interpretation of marriage left an impression on my mind which grew up watching Buffy Summers battle demons and monsters every week.
So when I saw the title of the book “Fierce Women” By Kimberly Wagner, I knew I had to read it. I am a feminist and I love anything about a woman who is strong, whether that be a quiet woman who stands by her family in a time of need, or a woman in a soldier’s uniform. Doesn’t matter, strong women are AWESOME.
While I am a feminist, I think women who don’t consider themselves feminist can get something out of this. I would be interested in finding out what a person who didn’t consider themselves Christian would think of this book.
I went to a catholic college and I think this would be a fabulous book to be used as a text in a women’s study class; perhaps a women and religion class.
I thought that Author Kimberly Wagner was very bold an brave to be open about how sometimes her fierceness has sometimes had a negative influence on her marriage ;as well as other anecdotes of her journey into fiercedom.
There are a lot of snippets I found helpful throughout the text, “marriage is much bigger than the two people in a particular marriage, her definitions of fear as False Evidence Appearing Real, Patterns of pride etc.
I would definitely recommend this book to women, as well as to couples as a way of opening communication.

Review-Radiantly You

I was lucky enough to be chosen to receive the following products for free in exchange for an honest review.

First of  all I have to talk about how everything smells! These products all smell so marvelously. Strong, but by no means overwhelming.

My favorite product is definitely the Amber Vanilla whipped body butter.

AVWBB_320

I have eczema, and this allergy season has been rough on my skin. I am so hooked on this product, I use it every single day, This body butter is packed with shea butter and When I put this on I can feel my skin being nourished. It is like medicine. The body butter Is 14.50 a trip to the dermatologist is about $80 not including prescriptions.  I can see myself buying it for the rest of my life.(https://radiantlyyou.com/shop/beauty-products/amber-vanilla-whipped-body-butter-2/)

ILVSS_320 LOVE the lavender body scrub I got. When I first opened it I just stood there smelling it. It makes for a relaxing bath! https://radiantlyyou.com/shop/beauty-products/lavender-vanilla-sugar-scrub/

OVLB_open_320

The chocolate lip balm is just as nourishing on my lips as the body butter is on my skin.(https://radiantlyyou.com/shop/beauty-products/mint-chocolate-lip-balm/)

NHD_320

The natural herb decongestant has been awesome on those fun spring hay fever days! I might have to give a tub of this to my dad, who hates taking medicine.(https://radiantlyyou.com/shop/health-products/natural-herbal-decongestant/)

I want to try the Dead Sea Mud Soap Bar, and the tea tree oil shampoo bar.

A little information about the owner, Melissa Brown

She is a Certified Holistic Health Coach and her products reflect that!

A few days ago I saw a Facebook post about GMO’s . I had no idea what it was and to be honest even after reading about them and the causes against them I still am not %100 sure. When faced with the problem of massive amounts  of products being bad for you. The question for me becomes: “Okay what can I do right now to avoid these bad things? “ It seems like I never get a clear answer.

This is a big reason why I am so grateful for companies like Radiantly You.  Instead of just yelling at me, the amazing owner of Radiantly you took control and puts out a fabulous product that is not only handmade and all natural, but works too!

They put as few ingredients as possible. Which I love, I have a good friend with Celiac disease as well as other chronic allergies. When she first was diagnosed she learned the hard way that going gluten free means a lot more than not having a biscuit with dinner. It means you have to be aware of gluten used as a binder in dozens of beauty products. She can only use gluten free shampoos, and lotions.

I recommend this to all my readers as well as my friends and family.

Review-Grace’s Pictures

16923109

This article is for Grace’s Pictures by Cindy Thomson, of which I received a complimentary copy from Tynadale press.
Grace’s Pictures is a story about a young Irish woman coming to America. She is alone and has to adapt to a whole new life. She meets a policeman named Own who is also trying to make a new life for himself.
This book is unlike any other I have ever read. It made me want to learn more about Irish history and Irish immigration into America. It has made me also want to delve into my own personal history as well.
As it is complex and interesting. I found it to be a very enjoyable read. The pace is nice and the quality of the writing is excellent. It is very well researched and lovingly written. It is labeled as Christian literature, and I found the representation of Christians in this book to be loving, giving, forgiving and charitable.
I like the characters, Grace is soft and timid yet brimming with pride, strength determination and resilience just below the surface. Owen is striving to help others. They are both trying to leave something behind them be something bigger. If that isn’t an expression of the American spirit I don’t know what is!
303f6cff3c100a7f0235e4_L__V388057894_SX200_I’ve also truly enjoyed reading and exploring the author’s blog. It is full of fascinating links and media.
