This article is for Grace’s Pictures by Cindy Thomson, of which I received a complimentary copy from Tynadale press.
Grace’s Pictures is a story about a young Irish woman coming to America. She is alone and has to adapt to a whole new life. She meets a policeman named Own who is also trying to make a new life for himself.
This book is unlike any other I have ever read. It made me want to learn more about Irish history and Irish immigration into America. It has made me also want to delve into my own personal history as well.
As it is complex and interesting. I found it to be a very enjoyable read. The pace is nice and the quality of the writing is excellent. It is very well researched and lovingly written. It is labeled as Christian literature, and I found the representation of Christians in this book to be loving, giving, forgiving and charitable.
I like the characters, Grace is soft and timid yet brimming with pride, strength determination and resilience just below the surface. Owen is striving to help others. They are both trying to leave something behind them be something bigger. If that isn’t an expression of the American spirit I don’t know what is!
